KT Wiz officially announced on the 10th that it will not renew contracts with a total of 11 players, including seven pitchers and four outfielders. The target players are pitchers Park Si-young, Ha Joon-ho, Cho Yong-geun, Park Si-yoon, Kim Ji-min, Han Min-woo, Yoon Kang-chan, and outfielders Cho Yong-ho, Hong Hyun-bin, Choi Jung-tae, and Kim Kyu-dae.
Veteran right-hander Park Si-young, who played as a first-team bullpen agent until the first half of this year, will leave the team. Park Si-young, who debuted with Lotte Giants in 2010, moved his team through a 2-2 trade with Shin Bon-ki and Park Si-young as the core of Lotte and KT. When KT won the integrated championship in 2021, he contributed by playing an active role as a must-win team for the bullpen. Another pitcher, Ha Joon-ho, who made his debut with Lotte, will also leave KT. Ha Joon-ho moved from Lotte to KT through a trade with Jang Sung-woo in 2015. There were many twists and turns. Cho Yong-ho, who has lost his opportunity to play since last year due to falling behind in internal competition, recorded a batting average of 248 (37 hits in 149 at-bats) and 13 RBIs in 60 games this season.
Hong Hyun-bin, who joined KT as a high school graduate rookie in 2017 and played as a backup agent, will also leave KT. Hong Hyun-bin hit a batting average of 222 (4 hits in 18 at-bats) in 28 games this season and made an impact by hitting his first career walk-off hit, but he couldn't avoid being released.
