BWF announced Ahn Se-young 'Reclaiming World No. 1'Denmark Open runner-up, widening the gap with second-place Chen Yu-fei

It has been announced that Ahn Se-young (22, Samsung Life Insurance) will regain the world No. 1 ranking.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced the 43rd week of 2024 at around 11 a.m. on the 22nd (Korea time) and put Ahn Se-young back at the top of the women's singles ranking list.

Ahn Se-young was pushed from No. 1 to No. 2 in the world on the 8th, when she was taking a two-month break after the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, he participated in the '2024 Denmark Open', which closed on the 20th, and finished second, adding ranking points and overtaking Chen Yufei (China), who was No. 1 in the world. Chen Yufei has been on a long break since the Paris Olympics.

BWF has its own unique ranking method. The rankings are announced every Monday, and as of the time of the announcement, the points of 10 international competitions (ranking 1st to 10th in the points earned) will be updated with a total score.

The Danish Open is the second highest in the BWF tour grade after 'Super1000', with 11,000 winning points and 9,350 runner-up ranking points at stake. According to BWF's calculation method, Ahn Se-young scored a total of 103,267 points as the Japanese Masters' semifinal points (6420 points) that participated in November last year were omitted and the Danish Open's runner-up points were added. When it fell to second place in the world on the 8th, it was up 2,930 points from 10,337 points.

On the other hand, Chen Yufei, who scored 101,682 points, failed to participate in the Danish Open a year ago, but instead of losing the winning points (11,000 points) of the Danish Open last year, he ranked second with 98,482 points, down 3,200 points from the total points.
