The Korean Professional Football Federation announced the list of preferred players for the K League 1 and 223 clubs on the 25th.

A total of 157 prospects from the youth team under the K League will be given priority nominations by their clubs. Fifteen of them go straight to the professional league.

In K League 1, a total of 86 people were nominated first from all 12 clubs. Pohang had the largest number of people with 10, followed by Seoul, Ulsan (nine), Gangwon, Gwangju, Daejeon, Incheon, Jeonbuk (eight), Daegu (7), Jeju (5), Gimcheon, and Suwon FC (three).

In the K League 2, 11 clubs, excluding Anyang and Chungcheongbuk-do Cheongju, nominated a total of 71 people first. The largest number was Busan, which nominated 11 people, followed by Jeonnam (9 people), Gyeongnam, Bucheon (eight people), Seongnam, Suwon Samsung (seven people), Cheonan (6 people), Ansan (5 people), Gimpo, Seoul E-Land (4 people) and Chungnam Asan (2).

The K-League rookie selection method is divided into 'priority nomination' and 'free selection'. Each K-League club can exercise its priority nomination authority for those who are expected to graduate from high school among its youth teams by the end of September every year. The effect period of the preferred nomination is three years from the year of graduation (excluding periods such as college leave, overseas expansion, and military service), and if a player does not join the preferred designated club within that period, the effect of the preferred nomination will be lost.

First of all, the terms of joining the designated player are one to five years, 27 million won to 36 million won in basic salary, and a down payment of up to 150 million won can be paid. If a down payment is paid, the contract period will be fixed at five years and the basic salary for the first season will be fixed at 36 million won. First of all, all players other than designated players can join the K-League club through a free selection method.

Of the 157 people who received the priority nomination, seven in K League 1 and eight in K League 2 will go straight to the professional league. Seo Jung-hyuk and Jin Tae-ho, who have already signed a semi-professional contract with Jeonbuk and are active in the Asian Champions League 2 stage, Son Geon-ho, who signed a semi-professional contract in Jeonnam this season and made his professional debut, and Pohang Kim Myung-joon and Hong Sung-min, who led the 2023 AFC U-17 Asian Cup runner-up.
