A total of 28,153 athletes (19,159 athletes and 8,994 executives) from 17 cities and provinces across the country will play 49 sports at 75 stadiums in 18 cities and counties in the province, including Gimhae Sports Complex, the main stadium.

Meanwhile, in the competition for cities and provinces, Gyeonggi Province will try to win the overall championship for the third consecutive time. Gyeonggi Province continued to win the overall championship for 17 consecutive years from 2002 to 2018, and lost the championship cup to Seoul City at the 100th Seoul Games in 2019, and won the second consecutive title from 2022-2023 after 2020-2021 (only the high school division was held), which was suspended due to COVID-19. In addition, Hwang Sun-woo (Gangwon Provincial Government) will challenge the history of MVP for the fourth consecutive time following his first three consecutive MVPs last year. The record for winning the most MVP awards in the National Sports Festival is five times held by Park Tae-hwan (swimming).
The opening ceremony of the National Sports Festival will be held at Gimhae Sports Complex at 5 p.m. on the 11th under the theme of 「From Space to Space, Fireworks of Harmony」, as well as a five-act media art theme performance by the Black Eagles, and performances by invited singers such as Jang Yoon-jung, Hamonize, Kim Da-hyun, Song Jang-jae. The closing ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. on the 17th at Gimhae Sports Complex, followed by performances by invited singers such as Park Seo-jin and Eun Ga-eun. After the closing of the National Sports Festival, the 44th National Sports Festival for the Disabled will be held at the same place from the 25th to the 30th.
