"I will do my best for the development of women's soccer in Korea and for the development of the national team."

Shin Sang-woo, the new coach of the South Korean women's soccer A team, delivered his inauguration.

The Korea Football Association recently appointed Shin as its new coach. Coach Shin's contract period is until the 2028 LA Olympics. However, it will receive an interim evaluation through the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2027.

Coach Shin, who held an official press conference at the Shinmun-ro Football Center on the morning of the 17th, said, `We will do our best to develop Korean women's soccer and the national team," he said.

Coach Shin, who graduated from Kwangwoon University, played in Daejeon Citizen (currently Daejeon Hana Citizen) and Seongnam Ilhwa (currently Seongnam FC). He started his leadership career as coach of Gimhae City Hall in the National League. Coach Shin, who moved to women's soccer in 2015, started as coach Boeun Sangmu (currently Mungyeong Sangmu), followed by Icheon Bridge in 2017 and Changnyeong WFC head coach from 2017 to 2021. Coach Shin returned to men's soccer in 2022 and helped his team win the K League 2 in 2022 as Kimcheon Sangmu coach.

"It's a difficult situation because we can't make it to the World Cup and the Olympics. I think it's an opportunity to color in a blank state. My ability, there are three directions that I emphasize the most. The first is trust not only with me but also with players and staff. I think that's how we can be a team. Second, I think it is most important to motivate female athletes. This is what I felt the most while I was in women's soccer for 9 years. It is more important to motivate than to whip. Third, I think it is most important to wear a formation that suits female athletes. Among the players I've seen, I've picked 23 players to match the formation."

Shin will make his debut as a head coach in a friendly match against the Japanese women's national team at Tokyo National Stadium on the 26th. Korea is far behind Japan. He only recorded 4 wins, 11 draws, and 18 losses in the previous record. As of September, Japan ranked seventh and South Korea ranked 19th in the FIFA rankings.

-an inaugural address.

▶We will do our best to develop Korean women's soccer and national team.

-Managing director Gimcheon is at an important point. How did you decide. What kind of conversation did you have with coach Chung Jung-yong.

▶Thank you for your consideration, Kim Cheon Sang-mu, Armed Forces Sports Unit, and Chung Jung-yong. It's been three years since I came to men's soccer after being in women's soccer. I've always told you that I'm interested in women's soccer. Gimcheon is an important time, but the director asked me to think about it first because I had a good opportunity, so I came here.

-I'm curious about the diagnosis of Korean women's soccer and ways to strengthen competitiveness. Roadmap for the Asian Cup.

▶We are in a difficult situation because we have not advanced to the World Cup and Olympics since 2020. Among the players I saw, I picked 23 players to match the formation.

-How can we dispel concerns over a vacuum in women's soccer.

▶Fortunately, there is also women's soccer in the sports unit. I played a lot of women's games in Mungyeong. I will be scolded by coach Jeong Jung-yong, but I watched a lot of video clips when I played women's soccer.

-tactics and strategies specifically.

It is important to plan ▶ training. The convocation period is not long. I plan to train accordingly by classifying how to attack, defend, switch, or set piece.

-Do you have any ideas for generational change.

Some players were selected late for the ▶ national team. It is true that generational change is not easy. If the leader also says that the final goal is the national team coach, the players also think that the final goal is the national team. There are shortcomings to change immediately. The WK League has a draft. There are many young players. If you look at Lee Min-ah and Lee Yoo-jin selected this time, they have good judgment, skills, and physical conditions. I think we should change the generation by doing intuitive so that the national team can perform well and motivate other players to select good players.

-Excluded some veterans.

▶It was because there was a replacement. Midfielder Lee Soo-bin has been doing well in Hwacheon since last year, even without his representative experience. I transferred to Japan on the way. have a good idea. It's not that I didn't pick Cho because I had bad feelings about Cho So-hyun. I thought it could be replaced. He is playing for the national team until his retirement. At any time, in my view, if it fits the configuration I think, there is a possibility that it will be reissued.

-Will he be able to play A matches consistently.

I spoke to the ▶ Association positively. I think we should continue to play friendly matches to improve our performance without a big tournament. I think playing with a strong team like this will help develop Korean women's soccer.
