In April, in the quarterfinals of Ring Championship 04 at The K Hotel in Seoul, South Korea's Kim Eun-sung (28, K-Wrestling), Kazakhstan's Bollett Zamanbekov (27, DAR PRO Team), South Korea's Shin Yu-min (23, Pohang Team Mad), and Japan's Kunito Takeshi (32, BURST) confirmed their advance to the semifinals. The four fighters will have a fierce battle on Oct. 20 to advance to the finals.
On the way to the final, a fierce semifinal match
The main event of this competition is a Korea-Japan match between South Korea's Kim Eun-sung and Japanese veteran fighter Kunito Takeshi. The fighters from both sides pointed to each other and a fierce Korea-Japan war took place, which has more symbolic meaning than just a match.
Kim Eun-sung advanced to the semifinals by winning a decision after an overwhelming batting match against Son Keun-ho in the last quarterfinals. On the other hand, Kunito Takeshi reached the semifinals after winning by default due to the failure of his opponent Park Sang-hyun, and is considered a strong grappler even though his performance in practice has not yet been confirmed. The two fighters pointed to each other and made this Korea-Japan match happen directly.
In the other semifinal, South Korea's rookie Shin Yu-min and Kazakhstan's Bolett Zamanbekov will face off. Shin Yoo-min won the quarterfinals by foundry with a strong physical battle against Lee Hwi-jae, and Zamanbekov advanced to the semifinals after an equal match against Moon Kook-hwan.
The Ring Championship hosted three numbering tournaments in 2023 for the bantamweight tournament, allocating a total of four fighters to the seed. In addition, two overseas veteran fighters were recruited to make the competition even fiercer. In addition, two additional bantamweight tournament participants were selected through a preliminary round in February this year among eight participants who passed the preliminary round called 'Fist Crying-Hell' held in December last year.
to recreate the historical stage 90 years ago
The Ring Championship 05 revives the historical significance of the 1933 Gyeongin Daehangmudo Acting Competition, and connects the past and the present through a symbolic confrontation called the Korea-Japan match. At that time, the mixed martial arts fight between boxing and judo, held at the Incheon Aegwan Theater, received the attention of many. Kim Nae-chul, president of the Ring Championship, said, `This match between Korea and Japan is an important match with historical and cultural symbolism beyond just fighting matches. A match between Korea and Japan, which recreates a mixed martial arts match held 90 years ago at the Incheon Port, will add great significance to the ring championship. Korean and Japanese fighters are looking forward to this match where they will show their best skills."
