A four-year university baseball supervisor meeting was held in Daejeon on the 2nd.

The topic was the 2025 KBO Rookie Draft. In this draft, 211 prospective four-year college graduates (205 two to three-year college graduates and 56 early drafts) knocked on the professional's door. However, only two of the four-year college graduates received professional nominations (two to three-year and early 14 players). Even considering the total number of college graduates, only 16 people, or about half of the 2024 rookie draft (29), wore professional uniforms.

A university baseball official said, `Each university leader takes seriously the shock and disappointment of the nomination result and that university baseball can be extinguished"I feel a great sense of crisis that university baseball, an important pillar of Korean baseball, is neglected not only by universities but also by professionals." The fall of college baseball can have a very negative impact on the choices of young people who start baseball, the careers of middle and high school players, and ultimately lose the foundation of Korean baseball"I called for attention.

Of course, I didn't just call for attention. The official said, `Today's college baseball reality is not just a matter of the KBO draft, but also of the university baseball itself and its leaders"We have decided to come up with a strong reform plan," he said. As a matter of the whole of Korean baseball, we urge KBSA (Korea Baseball Softball Association) and KBO to cooperate in developing active development measures to create a healthy ecosystem for Korean baseball and develop the baseball industry.
