Dodgers pitcher Brent Haniwell moved to the third base dugout after pitching in the top of the fifth inning at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles in the second round of the National League Championship Series (NLCS) between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets. The moment I stepped into the dugout entrance to step on the stairs, I found a snake. A small snake, less than a meter long, appeared from somewhere, wriggling and moving.
Honeywell pointed his finger at the snake and informed his colleagues. The ground manager wrapped the snake in a towel and carried it out, and the situation was over.
Honeywell, who took the mound as the team's fifth pitcher in the fifth inning, trailing 0-6, walked Jesse Winker after one out and Tyrone Taylor after two outs, putting him on the verge of first and second base, and then caught Francisco Alvarez on a fly to center field to end the inning.
After the game, Honeywell "I saw all kinds of creatures in the dugout before. The moment I tried to get into the dugout, there was a snake. I don't think I saw the coach"I hoped it was a snake that gave us the energy to chase after. Still, I went after a few points after that."
After the snake appeared, the Dodgers made up for one point by hitting a superior solo home run against Mets left-hander Sean Munaia, who was well kept scoreless by leading Max Muncy in the bottom of the fifth inning, and Tommy Edman hit a two-run timely hit in the sixth inning to narrow the gap to 3-6.
However, in the end, he failed to catch up with the Mets and knelt 3-7 to leave for Game 3, 4, and 5 with a record of 1 win and 1 loss in the series.
As Honeywell mentioned, he had previously seen an alligator in the dugout in 2015 when he was in the Tampa Bay Rays minor league. I entered the clubhouse ahead of the away game in Port Charlotte, Florida, and there was no one and a crocodile was sitting under the bench where the players sat and was not moving.
"At first, I thought someone was messing around, but my fellow players also came in and were surprised to see a 10-foot (about 3m5)-long crocodile," Honeywell said.
Animals often make headlines during the Major League Baseball postseason. The goose appeared in the 2022 division series between the San Diego Padres and Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, and in the 2011 division series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the St. Louis Cardinals, a squirrel shot through the infield ground, drawing attention.
