'People's Peepyak' Shin Yu-bin (11th in the world) has reached the quarterfinals of the World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions Frankfurt.

Shin Yu-bin defeated Adrianna Diaz (11-7, 8-11, 11-13, 11-8, 22-20) in the women's singles round of 16 at the tournament held in Frankfurt, Germany on the 7th (Korea time).

Diaz is the strongest table tennis player in South America, with Shin Yu-bin turning 3-0 at the Busan World Table Tennis Championships in February. He has lifted five trophies since 2017 at the Pan American Table Tennis Championships, the best tournament in South America.

Shin Yu-bin grabbed one game 11-7 against Diaz on the day, but lost 11-13 after a three-game deuce battle after losing two games 8-11, pushing the game score to 1-2. However, he balanced the game score 2-2 with an 11-8 victory in four games, and clambered a 22-20 deuce game that seemed unlikely to end in the final game to win a thrilling victory. Shin Yu-bin, who raised his arms immediately after the victory and expressed his excitement for the victory, was cheered enthusiastically by the crowd

He responded with a cute wink ceremony.

Shin Yoo-bin, who won the bronze medal in the women's singles and the bronze medal in the women's team at the Paris Olympics, took a month off due to a shoulder injury after the Olympics and started practicing again starting with the Asian Championships. Following the WTT Champions Montpellier competition, he is participating in the Frankfurt competition in a row. Shortly after the Montpellier competition, which beat natural enemy Duhoichem to reach the quarterfinals 'Shin Yoo-bin exclusive', coach Ham So-ri left for the wedding ceremony on the 2nd, and Korean Air coach Joo Se-hyuk flew to Germany to train and bench Shin. It remains to be seen what tactician Joo and Shin Yoo-bin, who are emphasizing growth for the future rather than immediate results against Chinese and Japanese aces, will show in their first international competition.

Meanwhile, in the men's category, Ahn Jae-hyun (Korea Exchange, 25th in the world) lost 1-3 (9-115-111-11-7 9-11) to Felix LeBrug (France, 5th in the world) in the round of 16.
