Hanwha Eagles have begun to match foreign pitcher pieces.
Hanwha announced on the 22nd that it has renewed its contract with foreign pitcher Ryan Weiss. The terms of the contract are up to $950,000 including $750,000 in guarantees ($150,000 in down payment, $600,000 in annual salary) and $200,000 in incentives.
Weiss first wore Hanwha's uniform as an alternative foreign player in the 2024 season. He pitched in 16 games as a starter and made 11 quality starts, recording 5 wins, 5 losses and a 3.73 ERA. He played 91 ⅔ innings and struck out 98 pitches, which was powerful enough.

On June 25, he made his debut against the Doosan Bears and recorded four hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts in six innings, and since then, he has played consistently. He was sluggish with three runs in one inning against LG on July 28, his last game as an injury replacement, but he succeeded in staying in Hanwha because the official player contract was already decided.
Weiss also played well. In five games in August, he pitched well with 3 wins and 2 losses and an ERA of 2.30, and in the game against KIA on September 27, his last appearance of the season, he gave up 6 scoreless innings and achieved the beauty of the species.
As he consistently performed well, he succeeded in renewing his contract next season and became a Hanwha Eagles player for the second consecutive year.

After renewing his contract, Weiss said, `I thank the club for trusting me and giving me the opportunity to play for Hanwha Eagles next year"I'm looking forward to taking the mound at the new stadium. I will do my best for the Hanwha Eagles' emergency with great fans and great colleagues."
Meanwhile, Weiss will complete his medical check early next month and join the team in time for the spring camp, which begins at the end of January next year.
