KIA Tigers named pitcher Kang Hyo-jong (22) as compensation player for LG Twins and Jang Hyun-sik on the 19th" he said.
Kang Hyo-jong, a right-hander, graduated from Chungam High School and joined LG as the first designated player in 2021. After joining the team, Kang Hyo-jong made his 2022 debut and went 2-2 with a 6.43 ERA in three seasons.
The 150km fastball from the imposing physique of 1m84 and 86kg and the slider accompanying it are intense. Along with Lee Ji-gang, it is a resource that has been considered as the number one prospect for the next generation in LG.
Kang Hyo-jong is also a second-generation baseball player. His father Kang Kyu-sung is a pitcher who graduated from Dongdaemun High School and played for the OB Bears.

LG confirmed the recruitment of Jang Hyun-sik, a must-win group for KIA, on the 11th. Jang Hyun-sik played 75 games (75 ⅓ innings) this year, recording 5 wins, 4 losses, 16 holds, and a 3.94 ERA, which led his team to the regular season-integrated championship.
Kang Hyo-jong joined the Armed Forces Sports Unit (Sangmu) on December 2nd and is scheduled to be discharged from the military in June 2026. For KIA, it is a designation of a compensation player that has been looking far beyond 2026 rather than strengthening its power right now.
