Commentator Kim Tae-sul has been reportedly appointed as the new head coach of Goyang Sono.

Multiple officials of professional basketball reportedly said on the 24th that Kim Tae-sul, a commentator, will take the new baton of Goyang Sono, replacing former coach Kim Seung-ki`"I understand that Kim Tae-sul has already informed TVN Sports, the organizer of professional basketball, and has also told his fellow commentators.'

Kim Tae-sul, who is 40 years old this year, joined Seoul SK as the No. 1 player in the first round of the rookie draft in 2007 after playing at Dong-A Middle School in Busan, Dong-A High School, and Yonsei University.

After working at Anyang KGC (currently Jeonggwanjang), Jeonju KCC, Seoul Samsung, and Wonju DB, he retired in 2021.

He was selected as a member of the national team in the final qualifying round for the 2012 London Olympics, and also played a leading role in the gold medal at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.

Since Dong-A High School, he has been considered a genius point guard. He was also the last protagonist of Korean basketball leading to Kang Dong-hee, Lee Sang-min, and Kim Seung-hyun.

As the best guard in college when he was at Yonsei University, he also played 12 seasons in the professional league and gained a reputation as a top point guard.

He has been a basketball commentator since 2022 and also coached Yonsei University under a short-term contract in 2023.

Former coach Sono Kim Seung-ki voluntarily resigned on the 22nd. On the 10th, he assaulted Kim Min-wook at half-time in an away game against Seoul SK. In the process of reprimanding Kim Min-wook's play, he threw a marker for operational instruction, and when the player avoided it, he threw a wet towel to his face.

Later, Kim left the team and reported to the KBL Clean Basketball Center. A lawyer was appointed to hold director Kim responsible for the assault.

Goyang Sono recognized the incident and announced a plan to cut Kim Seung-ki's salary and suspend him, but Kim Min-wook protested.

In the end, Sono handed over the case to the Finance Committee. As the incident grew, Sono voluntarily resigned head coach Kim Seung-ki.

Kim Min-wook made his debut in 2012 and played for Anyang KGC until 2017, where he formed a relationship with head coach Kim Seung-ki. After the 2022-2023 season, he signed a three-year contract with Goyang Day One (currently Sono) as an FA. At that time, Kim Min-wook pushed ahead with a contract with Day One, who was uncertain about paying his salary to play under coach Kim Seung-ki. He played in 47 games last season and averaged 23 minutes and 34 seconds per game, averaging 8.1 points and 3.6 rebounds. However, the team's contribution decreased this season by playing an average of 15 minutes and 19 seconds.

Former coach Kim Seung-ki, who voluntarily resigned, is self-reflecting. He said "Everything is my fault. Kim Min-wook had a lot of affection. His performance was worse than expected this season, and he crossed the line in the process of reprimanding him. I'm really sorry to Kim Min-wook, and I'll live with self-reflection from now on."
