'For the future of school sports!' The Korean Sports Council will hold the Olympic Park Telseo School Sports Promotion Forum on the 25th

The Korea Sports Association (Chairman Kim Oh-young) will hold the "2024 School Sports Promotion Forum".

The Korea Sports Council will hold a school sports promotion forum at Olympia Hall on the 1st floor of the Olympic Parktel in Songpa-gu, Seoul at 2 p.m. on the 25th under the theme of 'Changes in School Sports Together, Creating a Future for Students' The forum, organized by the Korean Sports Council's School Sports Committee (Chairman Kim Taek-cheon), was designed to find a desirable direction for students and school sports to move forward together in the changing sports world and school sports culture.

More than 200 people will attend the event, including lawmakers interested in school sports, government officials, provincial sports associations and member sports organizations, provincial offices of education, school sports officials at all levels, and sports-related organizations.

Prior to the start of the forum, the Korean Sports Council will emphasize that school sports are the basis of public health and sports development, correct prejudice against the sports community, and urge policy support for school sports and cooperation from the government.

In the first presentation, Hannamhee, a professor of international sports at Korea University, diagnoses the current status of school sports under the theme of 「A new era of school sports」 and presents practical alternatives that reflect the newly required educational environment and technology utilization based on structural problems and limitations.

The second presentation is that Kang Ho-seok, president of the National Council of Leaders (Squash National Team), points out the balance between physical education activities and studies under the theme of 「Necessity of change in the student player development system」, and proposes various systems to help student players grow while exercising and studying at the same time. After the presentation, Kim Ki-chul, a senior researcher at the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation, and Ahn Kook-hee, director of the "Sports Forum Together", share opinions with the presenters through a comprehensive discussion and question-and-answer.

The Korean Sports Association has been steadily working to convey the voice of the school sports field to school sports policy-related organizations through the School Sports Promotion Forum every year. The 2022 forum called on the government to expand the number of physical education hours for each school in elementary, middle, and high schools related to the 2022 revised curriculum, and through this, the contents were partially reflected in the policy tasks of the 「2nd Basic Plan for Student Health Promotion」. Last year's forum provided an opportunity to look back on school sports from various perspectives through a special session of the First Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Tsuyoshi Yamamoto, Japan's Ministry of Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

The Korea Sports Association said, "(Through this forum, I hope that school sports will be re-examined that it is the starting point of Korean sports and the core of public health." In addition, it is expected that it will be possible to prepare policies suitable for the reality of school sports, present a vision for the future of a healthy school sports culture, and establish close cooperative relationships with school sports-related ministries and institutions."
