The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced the list of players on hold for 2025 on the 30th.
A total of 668 players were registered in the 2024 KBO League, and a total of 114 players, including free agents, voluntary termination, military holding players, FA non-contracted players, and withheld players, were excluded during the regular season, and the final 554 players were announced as withheld players in 2025.
By club, Lotte had the largest number of people with 60, followed by KIA with 59, NC with 57, Samsung, LG, KT, Kiwoom with 55, SSG, Hanwha with 53, and Doosan with 52.
The most eye-catching players are Kiwoom's foreigners 'one-two punch'Furado and Heyesus, while the names of players who have already been announced to retire or who have found a new team after being released are seen on the list of players on hold.
Both played well enough to be recognized as the league's best foreign starters, but failed to sign a contract depending on Kiwoom's direction of club management. Kiwoom did not exercise the right to hold the two to play for any team in the KBO League.
On top of that, the KIA Tigers also did not tie Lauer, who was ambitiously brought in during the season, as a pending player. Lauer can also wear a KBO League team uniform if he wants.
Benjamin, who played as a 'LG Twins killer' in KT Wiz, also failed to renew his contract. KT is looking for a foreign pitcher to play with Cuevas.
Elias, who played in SSG this year, Yokishi, who made a surprise return to the NC Dinos, Hanwha Eagles Barria, who was considered a quality player, and Dawson Dong, a foreign hitter who broke up with Kiwoom due to an unexpected knee injury, are also excluded from the pending list.
In addition, retired star players such as Choo Shin-soo, Kim Kang-min, Kim Jae-ho, Park Kyung-soo, and Jung Woo-ram will also end their careers as active players.
