The 'School Sports Awards' was established by the Ministry of Education and Sports Chosun in 2016 to emphasize the importance of school sports leading to healthy physical and mental growth of students and to encourage teachers who devote themselves to physical education guidance in front-line educational fields. The offline awards ceremony was not held for three years due to the aftermath of the Corona pandemic (2019-2020) and the Itaewon disaster (2022), but it was held again after four years last year, drawing great response from the education community.
