Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco was arrested for fighting while carrying a firearm.
ESPN reported on the 12th (Korea time) 'Franco was arrested Monday in San Juan Dera Maguana, 116 miles west of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. According to local police, a dispute involving a firearm occurred in an apartment parking lot, according to a spokesperson for the Dominican Republic police, who reported that Franco was arrested and a man and a woman in the party were also detained for possessing a handgun.
According to ESPN, one of the two pistols belonged to Franco, who fought the man in front of a woman. It was not known if there were any injuries.
ESPN said `Franco and the woman were arrested immediately after the incident and are under investigation, and the man is also in custody. Both pistols were seized, police said.
Franco is facing trial on charges of sexual abuse in minors on December 13. He has also been charged with sexual and commercial exploitation of minors and human trafficking. Franco was released conditionally four days after being arrested by police who were dispatched earlier this year after receiving reports of sexual abuse. Franco denied the allegations at the time, saying in an interview with local media that `everything is in God's hands.'

However, after receiving an administrative leave from the Major League in August last year, he was transferred to the restricted list in July and is currently not receiving an annual salary. Separately from the trial, MLB is conducting its own investigation into whether Franco violated labor-management agreements on domestic violence, sexual abuse and child abuse.
Franco is on trial without arrest, so he can go anywhere within the Dominican Republic. In the Dominican Republic, you need a license to own a firearm, ESPN reported, but it has not been confirmed whether Franco is qualified for this part. Sexual exploitation of minors and human trafficking are felonies that can carry a maximum sentence of 20 years.
Franco is from a baseball family with two older brothers, a father from a minor league, an uncle from a major league and a major league career. Born in March 2001, he has a girlfriend and two sons, ages 6 and 2, and got married after the 2021 season.
