LG signed a new foreign pitcher Yoni Chirinos for a total of $1 million on the 26th and announced the renewal of contracts with Hernandez and Austin on the 27th.
Hernandez signed a total of $1.3 million ($300,000 down payment, $800,000 in annual salary, $200,000 in incentives) and $1.7 million ($300,000 in down payment, $1.2 million in annual salary, $200,000 in incentives) with Austin.
Austin signed a total of $600,000 ($400,000 a year, $200,000 in incentives) in 2023, his first year, and more than doubled to $1.3 million ($300,000 in down payment, $800,000 in annual salary, $200,000 in incentives) this season. He will receive $1.7 million next year, and will be recognized as the best foreign hitter in name and reality.
Austin Dean had his best performance for the second year in a row. Austin, who had a batting average of 313, 163 hits, 23 home runs, and 91 RBIs last year, hit 319 with 168 hits, 32 home runs and 132 RBIs this year. Austin, who was the first LG foreign player to win the Golden Glove last year, became the first LG player to become the RBI king this year, writing a new history.
Hernandez's sacrifice for the team stood out to the point where he burned his fighting spirit in the postseason and earned the glorious nickname 'El Dong-won'.
Hernandez, who has replaced Casey Kelly during the season, had 3 wins, 2 losses, 1 save and 1 hold in 11 games in the regular season, and a 4.02 ERA.

In the playoff against Samsung, he pitched in Game 3 and blocked three ⅔ innings with two hits, one walk, and five strikeouts, keeping his team's 1-0 victory. He pitched a perfect game with three saves and one hold with zero ERA in six postseason games.
In addition to his skills, LG manager Yeom Kyung-yeop wanted to renew his contract with Hernandez early on, raising his stance to take the mound in all five games for the team.
Now, LG is aiming to win in 2025 with Hernandez, Chirinos, and Austin.
