He is a prospect who is expected to be selected as a top candidate in next year's rookie draft. He is a pitcher who throws 152km, but he says he likes the batter better. I can't help but wonder about his future.

Kim Sung-joon, a second-year student at Gwangju Il High School, is already attracting the attention of scouts. He also showed interest in the Major League, but Kim Sung-joon has already made up his mind to play in Korea, not the U.S. I'm already curious to know which order he will be selected in the 2026 rookie draft next year.

Kim Sung-joon received the Baseball Star Award at the '2024 Futures Star Awards' ceremony held on the 25th. Jeon high school student Jung Woo-joo (Hanwha Eagles 1st round) won the grand prize in the baseball category, and third graders, such as Chung Hyun-woo (Kium Heroes 1st round) and Park Joon-soon (Doosan Bears 1st round), who have already been nominated in the first round by professionals, received the award, but Kim Sung-joon was the only second-year high school player to win the award. That's how outstanding he was among the second graders.

This year, Kim Sung-joon performed very well in the two-stroke game. He played in 28 games as a fielder, mainly as a third baseman, with a batting average of 370 (31 hits in 101 at-bats), one homer, eight RBIs, and 13 steals, and as a pitcher, he pitched in 14 games and posted a 3-1 record and 2.65 ERA. He gave up 23 hits and allowed 17 four outs in 34 ⅓ innings, but showed a tremendous strikeout ability with 47 strikeouts. There are 12.3 strikeouts per 9 innings.

As a pitcher, the fastball, which recorded a maximum of 152km this year, is attractive. On top of that, throw sliders, curves, and even splitters. The most confident breaking ball is the slider.

Kim Sung-joon, who has been a shortstop since elementary school, gave up his seat to his senior this year and played third base, but he will return to his place as shortstop next season. He showed confidence in himself, saying, "He plays shortstop better than third baseman.'

I still have a great desire to play shortstop better than a pitcher. He wants to be a fielder if he has to be either a pitcher or a fielder in a professional game. Kim Sung-joon seems more likely to succeed as a pitcher because he has a fastball over 150km, but he seems more attractive when hitting hits, hitting home runs, and defending"He is giving more heart to the fielder than to the pitcher. When asked about his strengths as a beast, he showed tremendous confidence, saying, `No sector is pushed back.'

That doesn't mean I won't be a pitcher at all. Due to the team's circumstances, he played the role of a relief pitcher who climbed during a crisis. On July 14, Cheongryonggi's quarterfinal match was the top contributor to knocking down Deoksu, who was the favorite to win. He took the mound in relief from the fifth inning with a 3-2 lead and kept five scoreless innings until the ninth inning to keep his team's one-run victory.

Like Ohtani this year, he has to be a pitcher and a batter at the same time. So I plan to pay attention to my physical strength during the offseason. Kim Seong-jun said, "There were some difficulties while playing pitcher and fielder"So I'm trying to build up my physical strength by reinforcing it with weight training and running."

If possible, I would like to go to a professional like Ohtani and try this. "I want to record 10 wins and 10 home runs." Since Ohtani, prospects have knocked on the possibility of second-rate in Korea, but there have been no successful cases. Will Kim Sung-joon have an opportunity for Lee Do-ryu. First of all, I think there will be some answers when I look at next season.
