'I'm sorry for the trouble, I'll take responsibility.' Director Kim Seung-ki voluntarily resigns

Kim Seung-ki, head coach of the men's professional basketball Goyang Sono, voluntarily resigned.

The Sono club released a press release on the 22nd and said, `First coach Kim Seung-ki voluntarily resigned to take responsibility for the recent controversy and controversy.'

Coach Kim said, `We apologize for causing concern to basketball fans who love professional basketball with our recent actions in the locker room and will voluntarily resign to renew the atmosphere of the club and other players" conveyed the opinion to the club.

Sono added, `We are looking for a successor leader with Kim's voluntary resignation and plan to appoint him as soon as possible.'

Coach Kim has recently been embroiled in a controversy over assault on players. After the first half of the away game against SK in Seoul on the 10th, there were reportedly clashes such as throwing wet towels in the locker room while reprimanding player A.

As a result, player A protested greatly, such as leaving the team, and when an anonymous report was received at the KBL Clean Basketball Center, it turned out to be 'incident'.

After much consideration, Sono asked the Korean Basketball Federation (KBL) to hold a financial committee on the 20th, saying, "We considered the team's own disciplinary action, but decided to leave the judgment to a higher institution in consideration of fairness.'

Coach Kim was appointed as the first coach of Sono, who took over the Day One basketball team in July last year and re-founded it. Coach Kim, who retired from Wonju DB and worked as a coach and took the helm of Anyang Jeong Kwan-jang, rose to the rank of master by leading the championship game twice.

In the 2022-2023 season, Day One, who was considered weak, was placed in the play-off round of 6 and showed its potential to reach the semifinals in short-term games.

Sono, who is currently fifth with 5 wins and 5 losses in the 2024-2025 regular season, will resume the regular league with a game against Wonju DB on the 28th.
