Jeon Kyung-hoon (50), chairman of the Korea Badminton Association, announced his candidacy for the presidential election of the Badminton Korea Association.

In a press release of the Badminton Business Federation on the 28th, Chairman Jeon decided to run for office with the determination to become the 32nd presidential candidate and manage the association transparently, watching Ahn Se-young (Samsung Life Insurance) point out problems with the association's injury management, player development and training methods after the 2024 Paris Olympics gold medal" he said.

In particular, Ahn Se-young's social networking service (SNS) revealed that there are adults who can solve this situation, and he/she added that he/she was more determined to run for office because he/she wanted to become an adult.



Chairman Jeon also drew attention by announcing his groundbreaking pledge to run. He intends to donate a total of 2.4 billion won to the association for four years in office. None of the past presidents of the Badminton Association have made such a full donation.

His plan is to provide 600 million won each year to professional and daily sports, prepare measures to foster excellent elite athletes and revitalize daily sports, and be reborn as a new association through shared growth.



Chairman Jeon signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to attract sponsors from outside companies through the successful experience of small and medium-sized enterprises and will develop projects such as improving unreasonable system, introducing a systematic player development system, and early discovery of outstanding players in school sports in order to make a leap forward in professional sports, including the national team"He also promised.

In addition, he also announced his ambition to raise the status of badminton in Korea by attracting metropolitan league tournaments, establishing a badminton stadium that can host international competitions, and hosting world championships.



Chairman Jeon said, `Since we have no debt to the association and have not been influenced by customs, we cannot have interests or self-interest at all the crossroads of choice, and we can look at and take direction more objectively and fairly than anyone else", he also complained of his strengths.

Jeon is known as a successful entrepreneur who was a pharmacist. A former pharmacist, he founded a food service company under the brand of 'passionate rice' in 2020, creating a success story with 250 franchises nationwide and 150 billion won in annual sales in three years. He was an avid badminton fan and turned into a businessman and badminton administrator when he was elected as the third president of the Badminton Federation in July last year.

Meanwhile, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul launched a forced investigation into Chairman Kim Taek-kyu, who is suspected of embezzling sponsored goods, and conducted a search and seizure of the Badminton Association, Yonex Korea headquarters, and Chairman Kim. Earlier, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested an investigation of Chairman Kim on charges of violating the subsidy law, embezzlement, and breach of trust, according to the results of the office inspection of the association on the 29th of last month.
