The best defenders in K League 1 this season were Lee Myung-jae (Ulsan), Park Seung-wook (Kimcheon), Kim Ki-hee (Ulsan), and Hwang Moon-ki (Gangwon).

On the 29th, the Hana Bank K League 2024 Awards Ceremony was held at the Swiss Grand Hotel in Hongeun-dong, Seoul. Lee Myung-jae, Park Seung-wook, Kim Ki-hee and Hwang Moon-ki were honored in the defense category.

Lee Myung-jae received six votes for the coach, five for the captain, and 53 for the media in the left fullback category, beating Wandelson (32.41) of Pohang and Lee Ki-hyuk (21.81) of Gangwon with 45.78 points.

Lee Myung-jae played in 28 games this season and was in charge of Ulsan's side defense and played with three assists.

Lee Myung-jae is a one-club man who has been in Ulsan except for military service in Gimcheon since his professional debut in Ulsan in the 2014 season, and was selected as the first 11 best in his career this season.

Lee Myung-jae would like to express his gratitude to his family for their support from an early age. Thank you to the club officials and coaching staff for your good support. I am also grateful to those who work in the clubhouse. A lot has been achieved in 2024. I went to the national team and won the championship. I wanted to win an award, but I'm glad the moment came when I said how I felt. I will be a player who works hard, sincerely, and does his best."

The central defense was up to Park Seung-wook and Kim Ki-hee. Park Seung-wook received 24.01 points with nine votes for the coach, four for the captain, and 45 for the media, while Kim Ki-hee scored 21.29 points with three for the coach, seven for the captain, and 51 for the media.

Park Seung-wook played 32 games this season and recorded two assists. Park Seung-wook showed a stable defense throughout the season, contributing to Sangmu's all-time best performance in the K League 1. Park Seung-wook was named the K League 1 Best 11 candidate for the first time last season, and this season, he was honored to be selected as the first best 11 in his career.

Park Seung-wook thanked Chung Jung-yong and Kim Ki-dong of the first professional team for making me stand in this position. My father, mother, and family are here, and I want to say I love you. It's my first time receiving this award, but I'll do my best without losing my initial commitment."

Kim Ki-hee served as the team's captain for the second consecutive year this season, contributing to Ulsan's third consecutive league victory. Kim Ki-hee played 22 games this season and showed stable defense throughout the season. Meanwhile, after wearing the Ulsan uniform in the 2020 season, Kim Ki-hee was named the best 11 candidates in the K League 1 in the 2021 and 2023 seasons, but did not lead to the award, which was the first time for Ulsan to receive the award. It is the second time in his career that Kim Ki-hee has been selected as the best 11 in the K League 1 since he was selected in Jeonbuk in the 2015 season.

Kim Ki-hee said, `I am grateful to my family for their dedication this year as well. I think I got everything back by winning this year. This year's award wants to share joy with the players ahead of the important game. I am grateful to Ulsan officials who are trying out of sight. It is said that talent is important in arts and sports, but attitude is more important than that. I'll be a player who does his best."

Hwang Moon-ki took the right fullback. Hwang scored a whopping 90.09 points with 10 coaches, 11 captains, and 109 media votes. This is the highest score for all individual award winners this season. He beat Daegu Hwang Jae-won and Seoul Choi Joon with a simply overwhelming score.

Hwang Moon-ki played 36 games this season, scoring two goals and seven assists, spending his career high season in both the number of games and attack points, and contributing greatly to Gangwon's runner-up in K League 1.

Hwang Mun-gi is "Orange Spider-Man Hwang Mun-gi. I am grateful to CEO Kim Byung-ji, coach Yoon Jung-hwan, and coach Jeong Kyung-ho for matching the turning point of his soccer life. I want to thank the supporters and players who were out of sight.
