The winner of the K League 1 Young Player Award is 'High School Winger' Yang Minhyuk

The best young gun in K League 1 this season was Yang Min-hyuk of Gangwon FC.

On the 29th, the Hana Bank K League 2024 Awards Ceremony was held at the Swiss Grand Hotel in Hongeun-dong, Seoul. Of course, it was Yang Min-hyuk who won the K League 1 Young Player Award. Yang Min-hyuk received 11 votes for the coach, 10 for the captain, and 115 for the media. He got a whopping 92.16 points. He beat Daegu's Hwang Jae-won (5.00) and Pohang's Hong Yoon-sang (2.84) by a wide margin.

Yang Min-hyuk from Gangwon Youth made his K-League debut as a semi-professional contract player this season. Yang Min-hyuk started from the opening game and started with a help in the 32nd second of the first half, then played in all games (38 games) and scored 12 goals and 6 assists.

Yang Min-hyuk was reborn as a rising newcomer in Gangwon, breaking all the club's youngest records, including playing, scoring and attacking points, and also switched to an official professional player during the season. Yang Min-hyuk led Gangwon to second place with his undulating performance throughout the season, and was honored to be named MVP candidate in his debut season.

Yang Min-hyuk became the second player to win the Young Player Award in his first year after Kim Min-jae (then Jeonbuk) in 2017.

Meanwhile, Gangwon produced its third Young Player ever, including Kim Ji-hyun in 2019 and Yang Hyun-joon in 2022, and Yang Min-hyuk in 2024. Gangwon has become the club with the largest number of young players along with Pohang (Kubu Yeol, Kim Seung-dae, and Song Min-gyu).

Yang Min-hyuk said, `It's an honor and I'm happy to receive the Young Player Award. As I mentioned earlier, I would like to thank those who helped me get to this position. Thank you again."
