Suwon Samsung's hopes have been dashed. Suwon, which was considered the 'K League 2 (division 2) dinosaur', finished the season without getting a ticket for the promotion playoff.

On the 9th, the final game of 'Hana Bank K League 2 2024' was held at six stadiums nationwide. Suwon's fate was at stake in the match between Seoul E-Land and Jeonnam Dragons and Busan I-Park and Bucheon FC.

Suwon, led by head coach Byun Sung-hwan, finished the season before other teams. Suwon finished all 38 regular league games with the Ansan Greeners at home on the 3rd. Suwon recorded the final 15 wins, 11 draws and 10 losses (56 points). He was ranked fourth with the final match left.

All that was left was to watch the other team's situation with desperation. Suwon was in fierce competition with Jeonnam (54 points) and Busan (53 points). This season's PO tickets will be given up to 5th place. Suwon fell to sixth place in an instant if fifth-ranked Jeonnam and sixth-ranked Busan beat E-Land and Bucheon, respectively, in the final match. If Busan beats Bucheon, it will have 56 points, matching Suwon in points. However, Busan (52 goals) was far ahead of Suwon (46 goals) in multiple points until the 38th round, so Busan ranked higher. Suwon had no choice but to support E-Land and Bucheon.

Kickoff. Suwon's wind shook in just 10 minutes. Jeollanam-do Plaka scored the first goal against E-Land 10 minutes into the game. After pressing the opponent hard, he opened the scoring. Around the same time, Busan was also in the mood. Bucheon Kim Kyu-min was sent off after receiving a red card for a rough tackle eight minutes into the game. Busan had a 'numerical advantage' Busan took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute of the first half with Son Hwi's score. It was the worst situation for Suwon.

South Jeolla Province and Busan gained more strength. Jeonnam went 3-0 in the 29th minute with consecutive points by Valdivia and Plaka in the 32nd minute of the first half. It wasn't the end. Park Tae-yong's wonder mid-range shot in the 32nd minute of the second half effectively sealed the victory. Jeonnam showed its concentration until the end and won 4-0.

Busan also widened the gap by 2-0 with Mrafah's additional goal in the fifth minute of the second half. Bucheon's Lee Eui-hyung scored in the 29th minute of the second half to chase. However, Busan won in the 41st minute of the second half with Peshin's additional score. Busan won by a score of three to one. As a result, Suwon's long-cherished dream was thwarted.
