Chairman Kang Tae-sun said on the 5th that a press conference to announce his candidacy for the chairman of the Korea Sports Council will be held at 3 p.m. on the 11th at the Coreana Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul.
Kang Tae-sun, born in 1949, is from Seogwipo, Jeju, served as the president of the Korea Scout Federation, served as the vice chairman of the Korea Mountain Federation, and has been working as the chairman of the Seoul Sports Council since March.
The 42nd election for the chairman of the Korea Sports Council will be held on January 14, 2025, and five people, including Kang Tae-sun, former president of the Korea Table Tennis Association, Kang Shin-wook, emeritus professor of Dankook University, Kim Yong-joo, former secretary-general of the Gangwon Provincial Sports Council, and Park Chang-beom, former president of the Korea Wushu Association, are likely to challenge for a third term. In addition, influential figures, former heads of local governments, and heads of municipal and sports organizations are reportedly considering running for office.
