KeSPA Cup Resurrects After 3 Years, Turns into an International Competition and Opens November 30

The KeSPA Cup will be revived for the first time in three years.

The Korea e-Sports Association announced on the 11th that it will start the '2024 LoL KeSPA Cup', the only short-term cup competition in Korea, on the 30th, and will broadcast it exclusively on Naver.

Starting this year, the KeSPA Cup will be transformed from a pro-am competition to a national team selection index review competition, and the competition data will be used when selecting the national team for e-sports. A total of 12 teams will participate in the tournament, with 10 LCK teams, the LoL first-tier league, Vietnam All-Star, and Taiwan All-Star teams. It is expected that domestic players will test their power before the opening of next year's regular league while playing against overseas teams to maintain their sense of international competition.

The tournament method will also be changed from the tournament method to the group full league-Swiss interstage method. First of all, 12 teams will be divided into two groups to play a single full league, with the top four teams in the group and a total of eight teams advancing to the top Switzerland and Interstage. In the Switzerland and Inter Stage, the opponent team will be determined by reflecting the group stage ranking, and the team that wins the match between the first place will go straight to the semifinals and the losing team between the fourth place will be eliminated. After four matches, the semifinal team will be confirmed, and the final winner will be determined through the semifinals (best-of-three) and the final (best-of-five). The total prize money is 80 million won.

This year's KeSPA Cup broadcast in Korean was decided only by Naver. It can be watched through official broadcasts and cost-liming by streamers through the official channels of LCK and KeSPA of Naver's Chi-jik in all games. The English broadcast will be held on Naver's KeSPA English Channel and the Korea Esports Association's YouTube channel.

The group qualifiers will be held from November 30 to December 3, and the Swiss stage will be held for two days from December 4 to 5. The semifinals and finals will be held for two days from December 7-8. The group qualifying round and Switzerland and Interstage will be held online, while the semifinals and finals will be held at V Space Stadium in Jung-gu, Seoul.

Considering that it is the stove league period, the roster of participants will be collected as late as possible and released, and the match table and offline game reservation will be released later on the SNS of the Korea e-Sports Association. This competition is sponsored by SK Telecom, Logitech G, CASS, Naver CGIZIC, and Powerful X.
