KPGA (Korea Professional Golf Association) issued a warning to Kim Joo-hyung for damaging the door of the locker room after the Genesis Championship overtime.

The KPGA held a reward and punishment committee at the KPGA Hall in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, on the 6th and made the decision.

Kim Joo-hyung damaged the door of the locker room after losing to Ahn Byung-hoon in overtime of the Genesis Championship at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon on the 27th of last month. When the controversy arose, he tried to explain through the media and SNS, but controversy arose as his position continued to change. The KPGA demanded Kim Joo-hyung's appearance at the reward and punishment committee, judging that he needed a calling. However, Kim Joo-hyung expressed his difficulty in attending through his agent and submitted a written statement of explanation.

After completing the reward and punishment committee, the KPGA said, "'As self-admitted in the written affidavit submitted by the player, it is recognized that he/she pulled the locker door roughly because he/she was offended by missing the championship, and the above act is considered to have played a major role in the damage to the locker door used by the player. Considering that the player inappropriately expressed his/her feelings and caused the object to be damaged by the above act, this is recognized as a violation of his/her duty to maintain dignity as a player.'" It also considered the fact that the degree of property damage was not large and that the golf course did not take issue with it much, that the player indirectly admitted and apologized to some extent in other interviews, and that what happened in the locker, not in the stadium where the game was being played' He explained that it led to the disciplinary action of warning in writing.

The disciplinary action will be confirmed after approval by the KPGA board of directors. Kim Joo-hyung can be retried if he raises an objection within 15 days after receiving a written notice after the disciplinary action is confirmed.
