Kiwoom Heroes signed catcher Kim Jae-hyun to a six-year extension.

Kiwoom signed a non-FA multi-year contract with catcher Kim Jae-hyun at the Gocheok Sky Dome club office in Seoul on the afternoon of the 22nd with a six-year contract period of up to 1 billion won (total annual salary of 600 million won and option of 400 million won).

Kim Jae-hyun graduated from Daejeon High School and was nominated by the Heroes in the eighth round of the 2012 Rookie Draft. Since then, he has played in 518 games in the first team and recorded 188 hits, seven homers, 81 RBIs, and a batting average of 0.221. Kim Jae-hyun is evaluated as a defensive catcher with a clever pitcher lead and stable defense rather than hitting. This season, he played a good role as a catcher in charge of foreign pitchers and played an important role in the team, leading young domestic pitchers stably.

The club said, `I'm happy to be with Kim Jae-hyun until 2030.'"Kim Jae-hyun is a player who always gives trust to his teammates with a positive mind and a responsible attitude, even though he holds a physically and mentally burdensome catcher position."As the oldest member of the catcher's group, I look forward to helping junior catchers such as Kim Dong-heon and Kim Gun-hee grow and serving as mentors for young pitchers."

Kim Jae-hyun said, `Thank you to the club for making a good offer, and I feel a great sense of responsibility. Above all, it is a great honor for a player to be able to play for a long time in a team. As I know what role the team is looking forward to, I will do my best to meet the expectations" he said.
