In this seminar, trainers and coaches from major overseas clubs will visit Korea for amateur baseball leaders and parents. Management and programs to prevent injuries to youth players in the U.S. and Japan, mental management on the mound and at-bat, shoulder and elbow injury prevention management due to increased confinement, and Q&A sessions to convey the training methods and know-how of active players as youth.
The seminar is divided into three sessions. In the first session, starting with the greetings of KBO Commission Chairman Oh Joo-han, Hayashi Takafumi (coach Yomiuri Giants U-16) will give a lecture on to introduce basic training and training directions for preventing injuries in the Japanese youth baseball field. Professor Kim Na-hyun (Professor of Exercise Nutrition at Korea University) will then explain to convey nutrition for each age group necessary for baseball player growth, diet necessary for fatigue recovery, timing and pros and cons of taking protein.
In the second session, Thomas Albert (L.A. Dodgers head trainer) will have time to deliver the difference between professional and amateur players and the baseball support and injury prevention system in various parts of the minor league, following , which introduces MLB guidelines and programs on injury prevention and directions for youth player injury prevention. In addition, Han Deok-hyun (a professor of psychiatry at Chung-Ang University) will be educated under the theme of to help strengthen concentration at-bats and manage mental health according to ball count.
The third session will educate Park Jin-young (Director of Neon Orthopedic Surgery) on the effects of increased restraint on the shoulders and elbows, the mechanisms of injury, and prevention methods.
In addition, the seminar will be concluded with Ko Woo-suk (Miami Marlins), one of the most powerful pitches and fastball pitchers in the KBO League, and his experiences as a youth by LG Hong Chang-ki, who ranked first in the KBO League on-base percentage in the 2024 season.
Meanwhile, the KBO Medical Committee produces injury prevention guides such as responding to batting damage and eye foreign substances during the season and responding to heat damage during the hot weather, and provides information to prevent injuries through electronic boards through pre-game training sessions. It also provides medical advice and proposes new policies related to the treatment and prevention of injuries for KBO league players, including field doctor operation, data conversion of injured lists and unified diagnosis names, and cooperation with the team doctor council.
In addition, by creating online content (medical speaking) to prevent the injury of youth players, various contents are continuously distributed so that anyone can easily share medical advice or information to prevent the injury of players.
