At 10:15 a.m. on the 21st, the union of the Korean Sports Council held an emergency protest to block and condemn Lee Ki-heung, chairman of the Korean Sports Council, for about 20 minutes on his way to work even though he was suspended from duty" he said.
About 30 union members of the Korea Sports Association protested against Chairman Lee's coming to work in the lobby on the first floor of the Olympic Hall in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul. Chairman Lee Ki-heung is reportedly in a position to play a role as an IOC member after being notified of the suspension of his duties as chairman by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Lee stopped by the IOC Support Office on the 13th floor of the Olympic Hall to handle IOC-related affairs.
The government's joint public service inspection team in the Cabinet Office recently requested an investigation into eight sports association employees, including Chairman Lee, on charges of fraudulent hiring, demand for sponsorship of goods (receiving money and goods), embezzlement and breach of trust, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism notified him of his suspension. Currently, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's anti-corruption investigation team has launched an investigation.

The Korean Sports Association Labor Union (Chairman Kim Sung-ha) held an emergency demonstration on November 21, 2024 (Thursday) to block and condemn Lee Ki-heung, chairman of the Korean Sports Association, for about 20 minutes from 10:15 to work even though he was suspended from his job. According to the results of the investigation by the government's joint public service inspection team in the Office for Government Policy Coordination (2024.11.10), Chairman Lee Ki-heung was asked to investigate various irregularities such as obstruction of business, receipt of money, employment costs, and breach of trust, and despite receiving a notice of suspension of duties (2024.11.11.11) from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, he visited the Olympic Hall, where the office of the chairman of the Korea Sports Council is located, and went to work this morning.
Chairman Lee Ki-heung told his aides that he only visited the Olympic Hall as an IOC member, but not only did IOC members not have to visit the Korean Olympic Committee to work, and even so, it was more like a behavior in which a person who was appointed to the IOC as the chairman of the Korean Olympic Committee (NOC) was suspended from his job and put his position as an IOC member as an excuse.
Our labor union was well aware of Chairman Lee Ki-heung's behavior in defiance of the government and the National Assembly, but it could not help but feel terrible and angry again while watching him go to work even though he was suspended from his job. In response, the Korean Trade Union Executive held a demonstration with about 30 members in the lobby on the first floor of the Olympic Hall for about 20 minutes to urgently notify the members of related matters and to block and condemn the suspension of Lee Ki-heung.
Chairman Lee Ki-heung has been on escapist business trips at home and abroad to avoid the obligation to attend the National Assembly, rushing to get out of his office without expressing any excuse or apology to employees he encountered for the first time in a long time, and our labor union followed him and said, `Execute Lee Ki-heung, who is not qualified as the chief of sports, step down!", "Lee Gi-heung, stop stepping down confidently!", "Get out of the budget-busting hiring scandal!" I strongly condemned him with chants of back.
On the other hand, Chairman Lee Ki-heung is also scheduled to visit Jincheon National Training Center this afternoon as a "IOC member".
