Also, an active major leaguer named Kim decided to go to Korea.

It is Jake Cave (32), an outfielder who the Doosan Bears have confirmed his recruitment. It was stamped for a total of $1 million (down payment of $200,000, annual salary of $800,000).

Shortly after signing, Cave added a photo of himself synthesizing Doosan's uniform on his SNS account, saying in English: "I'm excited for the next chapter of my career. I'm going to Doosan, Korea." Then "Let's go, bears!," he added in Korean.

Cave's friends, who have experienced the KBO League, gathered.

Charlie Barnes, who has been close to Cave since his Minnesota days, is currently negotiating a contract renewal for his fourth season with the Lotte Giants. Barnes says "Congratulations, buddy! If necessary, I will teach you how to use chopsticks for free."

Anthony Swazack, who played for Doosan in 2015, also said, `I've played for Doosan before,' adding, `It's an amazing team. There's a lot of great fans here," he said.

In the year when Swazack played, Doosan won the Korean Series. However, Swazack did not finish neatly, being excluded from both the playoff and Korean Series entries. Still, Korean baseball's unique passionate cheering seems to have left a deep impression.

Cave played in 123 big league games with the Colorado Rockies this year, batting .251 with seven home runs and 37 RBIs with an OPS of 0.686 (long hitting rate + on base rate). This year was the career high season with the most games since he made his big league debut when he was with the Minnesota Twins in 2018. Until last year, he played in as few as 42 games and as many as 91 games, and he was also a batter who steadily tasted the big leagues.

The Japanese Professional Baseball (NPB) also showed interest in Cave, but Doosan's quick move was ahead. Doosan will start the next season hopefully with a 'Big League Three Musketeers' that filled the upper limit of $3 million, including Col Irvin and Thomas Hatch, who were recruited earlier.
