Ryu Joong-il-ho and Kim Do-young (KIA Tigers), who won their first 2024 WBSC Premier 12 victory against Cuba, could not be left out. Kim Do-young played a decisive role in both offense and defense in the second Group B match against Cuba at Taipei Tianmu Stadium on the 14th (Korea time), contributing to an 8-4 victory.
Kim Do-young, who sensibly cleared Drake's straight hit after two outs in the top of the second inning, kicked up Moello's first pitch with 2-0 and two outs in the ensuing attack to lead to a left-handed bases-loaded single. In the top of the fourth inning, with one out and runners on first and second bases, he caught Drake's ground ball, hit third base, and sprayed it to first base to complete a double play and erase the loss crisis. In the top of the fifth inning, starter Kwak Bin was in crisis with consecutive walks, and Walters hit the ball of So Hyung-joon, who took the mound in relief, but after Kim Do-young's good defense, he was able to overcome the crisis again. Kim Do-young completed a multi-homer and five RBIs by shooting another solo shot to the left in the bottom of the seventh inning when Cuba chased after gaining a chase point.
Kim Do-young has shown signs of performance since the match against Taiwan. He scored a direct double to left against Taiwan's Lin Yu-min to post an RBI, and also showed a stable performance in defense. In the match against Cuba, he overcame the strong wind blowing in the infield direction and fired two home runs, proving that his KBO league performance this season was not in vain.

Kim Do-young said "I haven't had a bad hitting sense lately, so I wanted to maintain that sense today as well. I don't know what the rest of the game will be like, but as important games continue, I want to continue this sense" indicated the wind. About the upcoming match against Japan "I heard that the starting pitcher is very good tomorrow as well. I felt like it would be similar to today (the ball from Moeenello). With the same mindset as today, I want to confront it thinking only about what I need to pay attention to at-bat"I promised to play well.
