I was caught by Taiwan. The baseball team, led by head coach Ryu Joong-il, lost 3-6 to Taiwan in the first Group B match of the 2024 WBSC Premier 12 at Taipei Dome on the 13th (Korea time). Starter Ko Young-pyo collapsed with six runs in the bottom of the second inning when he gave up a bases-loaded shot to Cheoncheon Wei and a two-run shot to Cheonjeshuen. After Kim Do-young and Park Do-young's timely hit in the top of the fourth inning, the bullpen blocked additional runs, but suffered a defeat in the top of the seventh inning when Na Seung-yeop's solo shot failed to revive with only three hits (two walks and one out) on the Taiwanese mound. The loss was that he failed to target Taiwanese starter Lin Yu-min, who he met twice at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year.
South Korea, which suffered one loss due to the loss, was forced to produce the best results in the remaining matches against Cuba, Japan, the Dominican Republic and Australia in order to secure tickets for the final round, which will be given up to the second place in the group.
Coach Ryu Joong-il formed the starting lineup of Hong Chang-ki (left wing), Song Sung-moon (second baseman), Kim Do-young (third baseman), Yoon Dong-hee (right wing), Park Dong-won (fosu), Moon Bo-kyung (first baseman), Kim Hwi-jip (designated hitter), Lee Ju-hyung (middle fielder), and Kim Joo-won (striker). The starting pitcher is Ko Young-pyo.

South Korea withdrew in the top of the first inning due to a three-way error. Ko Young-pyo gave up a walk after two outs in the bottom of the first inning, but he started when he filled the last out count with a strikeout.
In the top of the second inning, leadoff hitter Yoon Dong-hee seemed to step down with a pitcher ground ball, but Lin Yu-min's bad pitch made him safe and had a chance to hit first base with no outs. However, as Park Dong-won stepped down due to a double play by the second baseman, the atmosphere sank, and Moon Bo-kyung also grounded out and scored no points again.
But Ko Young-pyo collapsed at the end of the second inning.

With the South Korean batters silent in the top of the third inning, Choi Ji-min, who took the mound in relief, was able to take a breather as he made a complete withdrawal in the bottom of the third inning.
The first half of the fourth inning that followed. South Korea succeeded in picking a chase point.

South Korea got on base with a pitch that hit Kim Joo-won by Lin Yu-min after two outs in the top of the fifth inning. Taiwan put Jang in relief, and Hong Chang-ki had to swallow his disappointment as he grounded out to second base. In the bottom of the fifth inning, when Choi Ji-min gave up a hit ball after two outs, Kwak Do-gyu took the mound in relief and struck out to fill the last out count, leading to a four-run gap.
In the top of the sixth inning, Korea got on base with Kim Do-young walking after a full count match, and even stole a base to get a chance to score. However, Yoon Dong-hee grounded out to third base to Zhang Xinyen, who took the mound in relief, and even Park Dong-won bowed his head with a strikeout after a full count match. Kim Seo-hyun, who took the mound in the bottom of the sixth inning, gave up a walk after two outs, but pitched a scoreless pitch by striking out to fill the out count.

In the top of the eighth inning, with Cheon Kwan-wi throwing as it was, South Korea's Hong Chang-ki threw a fly ball to right field and Song Sung-moon struck out, followed by Kim Do-young hitting a fly ball to right field. Cho Byung-hyun kept the bottom of the eighth inning scoreless, but he ended the game with a three-point loss as he went scoreless in the top of the ninth inning.
