Japanese defender Hiroki Ito, ambitiously recruited by Bayern Munich last summer, is expected to be unable to play for the time being due to injury.

The Munich club announced on its official website on the 5th (Korea time) that its defender Hiroki Ito underwent additional surgery for a metatarsal injury.

The club said "Ito had surgery. As a result, we will be removed from the roster for the time being, and we will resume the Porogram as soon as possible."

Ito, a Japanese national center back and left back, is a resource that Munich recruited to Stuttgart last summer for 24 million euros (about 34 billion won). Center back Horn, who can play at fullback, is expected to quickly establish himself in the national team as the team's main defender.

There was even a prospect that he could push Kim Min-jae away from 'Monster Centerback'.

However, Ito has yet to make his debut after being injured in a pre-season friendly against Duren in July. The club did not mention a specific expected return date, but it seems difficult to play for the time being.

It's a bolt out of the blue for Munich coach Bang Sang Kongpani. Currently, Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano are active as Munich's main center backs, but the deeper the depth, the better.

Munich will face Benfica in the fourth round of the Champions League phase at home on the 7th and the match against Jean-Cette Pauli on the 9th.
