SSG Landers signed a contract with new foreign pitcher Mitch White (born in 1994) for a total guarantee of $1 million.
White began his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers through the 2016 draft and later finished the season with the Milwaukee Brewers this season after passing through the Toronto Blue Jays and San Francisco Giants. In the Major League, he pitched 185 innings in 71 games and recorded 4 wins, 12 losses and a 5.25 ERA. In the minor leagues, he pitched 471 ⅔ innings in 126 games, recording 26 wins and 21 losses with a 3.93 ERA.
White is a powerful pitcher with excellent rotational fastball pitching and has a fast speed of 152km and up to 156km this season. In addition, the completeness of breaking balls such as pitch seam, slider, curve, and sweeper with large angles and sharp movements is also excellent.
SSG predicted that White's high fastball and high-angle curves will be a big advantage in the ABS environment.
In addition, at a time when foreign players' adaptation to the league is becoming important, Mitch White is a third-generation Korean with both his maternal grandparents and mother as Koreans, and SSG expects Mitch White to quickly adapt to the KBO League and Korean culture.
Mitch White, who signed the contract, thanked the SSG club for giving him the opportunity to make a fresh start on the KBO League stage. I really wanted to play in my mother's country once. As such, it seems to be meaningful to be able to play baseball in Korea. I'll adapt to the league as soon as possible and show my fans a good performance," he said.
Meanwhile, SSG will complete the recruitment process after completing Mitch White's medical check.
