The English Premier League (EPL) secretariat announced on the 8th that Nunu from Portugal won the Coach of the Month Award for his leadership of winning two wins, one draw and seven points in three EPL games in the 2024-2025 season held in October. Nottingham drew 1-1 with Chelsea and beat Crystal Palace (1-0 win) and Leicester City (3-1 win) in a row, jumping to third place, the Champions League qualification, with 19 points.
Nunu won the competition with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, Brighton manager Fabian Wheeler and Liverpool manager Arne Slot. Fan and expert votes were combined to determine the final winner.
Coach Nunu was honored with his fifth personal record of the month. He was named manager of the month in September 2018 when he was Wolverhampton, June 2020, October 2020 and August 2021 when he was in charge of Tottenham.
He became the 16th coach to win the Coach of the Month Award more than five times in EPL history. The five-time winners include current Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, Newcastle coach Eddie Howe, former Newcastle coach Kevin Keegan and former Leicester City coach Claudio Ranieri.
Alex Ferguson, the former Manchester United manager, won the 27th Coach of the Month award. This is followed by former Arsenal manager Arsen Wenger (15 times), Guardiola (11 times), former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and former West Ham manager David Moyes (10 times).
Meanwhile, Nottingham also produced Player of the Month, who shone in the EPL in October. Striker Chris Wood won Player of the Month for his remarkable performance in three games in October, scoring four goals. This is the first time a New Zealand player and Nottingham has won the award.
