Tottenham Hotspur announced a new club logo that captain Son Heung-min will play with on his chest.
Tottenham unveiled a new club logo on the 18th (local time). The biggest difference from the existing logo is the removal of the club name 'Tottenham Hotspur' under the rooster, the club's symbol animal. Founded in 1882, Tottenham inscribed the Roosters in 1921, the Soccer Ball in 1973, and Tottenham Hotspur in 2006 in the club logo. After 18 years, this word has disappeared into history.
The club said "This logo embraces a rich history and heritage. Introducing that roosters have been newly constructed, fonts remastered"We took the unprecedented step of modernizing our identity in 2006 by simplifying the medium around the world-famous roosters. The rooster has since stood tall in a minimal and symbolic way. Other clubs are now practicing this as well" he said.
"Removing the curved Tottenham Hotspur text under the rooster is to scale up in various settings and proudly stand as a true icon of the club." In the end, he explained that the decision to exclude the name was made to further emphasize the club's symbol, the rooster. It also changed the size and color of the rooster somewhat.
