Jeonbuk Hyundai tasted victory in about a month.

Jeonbuk won 1-0 thanks to Thiago's first goal in the 22nd minute of the first half in the fourth Group H match of the 2024-2025 Asian Champions League 2 (ACL2) against Slangor (Malaysia) at Jeonju World Cup Stadium at 7 p.m. on the 7th.

Jeonbuk, which returned from a 1-2 shock defeat in the Slangor away game last month, won in six games, including the Cup, and succeeded in rebounding from the atmosphere ahead of an important relegation battle. It regained the lead in Group H with three wins, one loss and nine points in ACL2.

Lee Seung-woo, who received the starting opportunity just a month after the match against Daegu on October 6, and Thiago's 'Big & Small' two-top, who returned from injury, presented a new possibility to Jeonbuk, which has been silent for three consecutive games in the league.

Thiago scored the first goal against Ulsan on July 20, leading the team to a 2-0 victory, and then restarted the scoring in 111 days.

Jeonbuk coach Kim Doo-hyun pulled out Lee Seung-woo's free-roll card. He put Thiago at the forefront and paired him with Lee Seung-woo. Kwon Chang-hoon and Kim Chang-hoon were in charge of attacks on both sides, and Lee Su-bin Boateng set up the midfield. Jung Woo-jae, Koo Ja-yong, Gam Ha-joon, Park Chang-woo took charge of the four-back, and Kim Jung-hoon wore goalie gloves. Song Min-gyu, Park Joon-beom, Jin Tae-ho, Han Seok-jin, Park Si-hwa, Yoo Je-ho, Jin Si-woo, eldest son Woong, Choi Chul-soon, and Gong Si-hyun stood on the bench. Hong Jung-ho, Park Jin-seop, Korea Young, Kim Jin-gyu, Kim Tae-hwan, Kim Joon-hong, Andrigo, and Moon Sun-min took a break in preparation for the weekend's game.

Several familiar names appeared in the Slangor lineup. Ali Olwan, the current Jordanian national striker, started. Uzbekistan national defender Umarbec Eshmurodov defended the defense.

Jeonbuk made a fresh start in the second minute of the first half with Boateng's mid-range shot. In the 12th minute, Lee Seung-woo's shot went over the net. Slangor sought a way out with Olwan's clever dribble.

Jeonbuk's attack route was simple but certain. It is a method in which Tiago, who is 1m tall, connects the ball to Lee Seung-woo with a header drop, and then finishes with Lee Seung-woo's creativity. When Lee Seung-woo caught the ball, he poked a high-quality pass to Kwon Chang-hoon, who was located in the right and right half spaces.

Thiago, who had the upper hand in the air ball fight from the beginning of the first half, eventually scored the first goal in the 22nd minute. Lee Seung-woo received Thiago's header pass and stabbed Kim Chang-hoon to open the left space. Kim Chang-hoon's cross, which received the ball, deflected off the opponent's defense and went out of the goal line. Kwon Chang-hoon, who played as a corner kicker, pushed the ball strongly to the door with a powerful header.

Kwon Chang-hoon's right footed shot in the 31st minute, when Lee Seung-woo was handed a pass through the defenders, was held in the goalkeeper's arms. In the 36th minute, Olwan's shot went over the crisis with Kim Jung-hoon's body blasting. Jeonbuk finished one goal ahead in the first half.

Coach Kim strengthened the offense by excluding Kim Chang-hoon and putting Song Min-gyu in at half-time. However, Jeonbuk, which had been playing hopelessly since the middle of the first half, was dragged away by giving the opponent the lead early in the second half. Alvin Portes' shot went off the post in the fifth minute of the second half. Two minutes later, Kwon Chang-hoon connected Lee Seung-woo's closing pass with a shot, but it missed and went over the net. In the 16th minute of the second half, a major crisis came to Jeonbuk. Ronnie Fernandez connected with a non-stop volley on a cross that Olwan stabbed into the door from the right. The ball, which was right on the foot, flew in the direction of the goal and hit the crossbar. Jeonbuk breathed a sigh of relief.

Fans shouted 'Shut up and attack', but Jeonbuk continued with passive 'Frustrated attack'. He also missed easy passes in the midfield and the opposition camp. In the end, boos erupted from the Jeonbuk home stands. Coach Kim called in Lee Seung-woo and Lee Soo-bin in the 20th minute of the second half and put in Jin Tae-ho and Yoo Je-ho to try to rebound the atmosphere. In the 25th minute of the second half, Jung Woo-jae was replaced by Choi Chul-soon. Kwon Chang-hoon's consecutive shots in the 26th and 31st minutes of the second half failed to score.

In the 38th minute of the second half, Olwan's shot was held in Kim Jung-hoon's arms, and the game ended with Jeonbuk's 1-0 sweat.

Jeonbuk prepares for the next K-League game with momentum. Jeonbuk (38 points), which is in 11th place in the K League 1, is seeking to reclaim 10th place against 10th-ranked Daegu (40 points) at the same stadium on the 10th.
