Is the shortstop the biggest battleground. KBO has finally confirmed the 2024 Golden Glove candidate.

KBO announced candidates for each 2024 Golden Glove position on the 27th. There are a total of 81 Golden Glove candidates this year, and only 10 players who performed best in each position in the KBO league can enjoy the final award.

For pitchers, the criteria for selecting Golden Glove candidates should meet the stipulated innings or meet one of the criteria of 10 wins or more, 30 saves, and 30 holds or more. For catchers and fielders, all players who have played defense more than 720 innings (number of team games X 5 innings) at the position will be on the candidate list. Designated hitters will be eligible for the nomination only when they take the batter's box with at least 297 at-bats, which is 2/3 of the regulation.

No. 1 players in individual categories in the KBO regular season are automatically registered as candidates for positions that meet the criteria, regardless of qualification requirements. However, if the standard for defensive innings is not met in any position due to participation in several positions only for the title holder, he or she will be a candidate for the position with the most defensive innings. If it is necessary to compare defensive innings and designated batter's at-bats, they are registered as candidates for positions with a high ratio compared to each criterion.

Based on these standards, a total of 81 people were selected as candidates, including 26 in the pitcher category, 7 in the catcher category, 5 in the first baseman category, 6 in the second baseman category, 8 in the third baseman category, 7 in the shortstop category, 19 in the outfielder category, and 3 in the designated hitter category.

In the catcher category, seven candidates are Kang Min-ho (Samsung), Park Dong-won (LG), Jang Sung-woo (KT), Lee Ji-young (SSG), Choi Jae-hoon (Hanwha), Kim Hyung-joon (NC), and Kim Jae-hyun (Kium).

Five players from Austin (LG), Yang Seok-hwan (Doosan), Na Seung-yeop (Lotte), Davison (NC), and Choi Joo-hwan (Kium) competed in the first baseman category, while six from Kim Sun-bin (KIA), Shin Min-jae (LG), Kang Seung-ho (Doosan), Ko Seung-min (Lotte), Park Min-woo (NC), and Kim Hye-sung (Kium) were named in the second baseman category.

In the shortstop category, seven candidates are Park Chan-ho (KIA), Lee Jae-hyun (Samsung), Oh Ji-hwan (LG), Park Sung-han (SSG), Park Seung-wook (Lotte), Lee Do-yoon (Hanwha), and Kim Ju-won (NC).

The most nominated outfield categories are Socrates, Choi Won-joon (KIA), Kim Ji-chan, Koo Ja-wook (Samsung), Park Hae-min, Hong Chang-ki (LG), Jung Soo-bin, Cho Ha-haeng (Dusan), Rojas, Bae Jung-dae (KT), Jihoon Choi, Eredia, Han Yu-sum (SSG), Yoon Dong-hee, Reyes, Hwang Sung-bin (Lotte), Kwon Hee-dong, Kim Sung-wook (NC), and Lee Ju-hyung (Kium).

For the designated hitter Golden Glove, only three players from Kia, Kim Jae-hwan, Doosan, and Kang Baek-ho (KT) will compete.

No club has produced candidates in all positions, and 10 players have been nominated, the most from KIA, the winner of the 2024 season, and LG, which ranked third. KIA, which won the Korean Series after the regular season, will challenge to produce the largest number of Golden Glove winners.
