South Korea and the Czech Republic discussed ways to cooperate for the development of baseball between the two countries, including the national team's warm-up match.

KBO President Koo Hu-yeon met Czech Baseball Association (CBA) Chairman Peter Dietrich and Czech Ambassador to Korea Ivan Jancharek at KBO on the 19th to cooperate together for the development of baseball between the two countries and continue in-depth exchanges.

In the Czech Republic, more than 7,000 players play baseball in 50 baseball clubs. In addition, the Czech baseball team has experienced a number of players playing baseball at American universities.

The Czech national baseball team has been confirmed to advance to the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC) finals and has been set up in Group C (additional Japanese, Australian and qualifying teams) along with the Korean national baseball team. In particular, it is the first opponent of the Korean national team's 2026 WBC group match.

CBA Dietrich and Czech Ambassador to Korea Yantzarek asked KBO President Hu Jae-yeon for support and advice to expand the base of Czech baseball. In particular, he expressed his hope for national team training and warm-up matches in Asian countries to prepare for the 2026 WBC Group C match in Tokyo, Japan.

In addition, Dietrich requested the Korean team to participate in June 2025, saying it would hold a 'Fraha Baseball Week' involving 11 European countries, including Germany and Italy.

KBO decided to continue to discuss ways to cooperate with the Czech national team, including warm-up matches for the national team and games with KBO league teams.
