The Queen of Short Track' Choi Min-jeong Wins the Prize in 2024 'Proud Yonsei Sports Personality Award' On Dec. 5, 'Yeonji Sports Personality Night' will be held

'Short Track Queen' Choi Min-jeong (Seongnam City Hall) has been selected as the winner of the 2024 'Proud Yonsei Sports Personality Award'.

The Yonsei Sports Council (Chairman Lee Kwan-sik) will hold the "2024 Yonsei Sports Night - 2024 Yonsei Sports Awards Ceremony" at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 at The Chapel At Cheongdam in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The alumni who have shone in Yonsei Sports for a year will be awarded the Kim Un-yong Sports Personality Award, the Lee Sung-gu Sports Personality Award, and the "Proud Yonsei Sports Personality Award".

Choi Min-jeong's main character 'Proud Yonsei Sports Personality Award' is an honor given to an athlete who showed outstanding skills among professional and amateur active players. Choi Min-jeong, who won three gold medals and two silver medals at the previous Winter Olympics, returned the national flag in the 2023-2024 season for equipment replacement, personal training, and rest, and returned to the national team this season.




The title of `Queen' has not faded. He won one gold, one silver and three bronze medals in the short track world tour of the International Skating Union (ISU) in the 2024-2025 season. Choi Min-jeong will play for the national team at the 9th Harbin Asian Games in February 2025.

The 'Kim Un-yong Sports Personality Award' is presented to persons who contributed to the development of sports in Korea and Yonsei University as an award in the merit category. Seodaemun-gu District Office Chief Lee Sung-heon, who has been actively supporting the establishment of the Seodaemun-gu Office Women's Basketball Team in 2023 and winning four tournaments in 2024, will receive it. He was recognized for his contribution to the development of women's basketball.

The 'Lee Sung-gu Sports Personality Award' is awarded to a leader who has contributed greatly to the guidance and achievement of outstanding athletes through outstanding leadership and dedicated efforts. Kang Chul, head of Gimpo FC's reinforcement division, who played for the South Korean national soccer team as a player and served as K3 Hwaseong FC coach until last year, was selected as the winner.




About 400 people, including guests, sports elders, Yonsei athletes, and sports students, will attend the event to strengthen friendship.
