Australia had a full base chance with no outs following consecutive walks by George and Hall against Yoo Young-chan in the top of the fifth inning, followed by Spence's hit to the right. Choi Seung-yong took the mound in relief and caught two out-counts, but allowed a chase point by giving up a walk to Bazana. However, Lee Young-ha, who took the mound following Choi Seung-yong, blocked further runs by striking out the last out count.
