Transformation of the 'K-League' to the Spring Festival' First Step, Professional Football Federation Holds Public Hearings Following ACL, Japan's J-League was introduced in 2026

The Korea Professional Football Federation will hold a public hearing to review the transition to the K-League's autumn system at 2 p.m. on the 13th at the Asan Institute of Policy Studies' auditorium.

The public hearing was organized to listen to the opinions of various soccer experts on the transition of the K-League to the autumn and spring system and to seek alternatives. Currently, the Asian Champions League (ACL), including the five major European leagues, is operating under a spring season.

Japan's J-League is set to switch to the spring season from the 2026-2027 season. Therefore, the K League will also hold a public hearing to consider the transition to the autumn and spring season in consideration of international soccer tournaments and major overseas league operations.



The public hearing will be followed in the order of explaining the background of the K-League's transition to the autumn system, the schedule following the introduction of the K-League's autumn system, discussions on audience, ground, performance impact, free discussion and Q&A.

Reporter Seo Ho-jung will be in charge of the public hearing, and Ulsan HD Director Choi Jung-ho, Chungbuk Cheongju FC Director Yoon Ji-hyun, Team Leader Kim Jong-yoon of the Korea Football Association's tournament management team, Yonhap News Reporter Ahn Hong-seok, representative Wang San Green Lee Kang-gun, K-League Commissioner Chung Tae-seok and Pohang Steelers player Shin Kwang-hoon will attend the panel.



Through this public hearing, the professional federation will collect opinions from various soccer experts and consider whether to switch to the K-League's pursuit system in the future.
