From the 22nd to the 23rd, the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency are holding '2024 Social Enterprise Commemorative Event and International Forum'. This event aims to reward companies and local governments that have contributed to fostering social enterprises under the slogan of 'Leaping Social Enterprises, On (溫) World Value On' and share and spread their achievements.
In particular, this year, 'Social Enterprise Growth Revitalization' was newly established so that win-win and cooperation between private and social enterprises could be further activated. The Jeju club was recognized for hosting and revitalizing Jeju social enterprise events at the award ceremony for those who have contributed to fostering social enterprises and excellent local governments.
The Jeju team signed a business agreement with the Jeju Social Enterprise Council (Chairman Ko Jin-seok) in June last year and has been engaged in close cooperation and communication. It co-promoted the hosting of the Korea Social Economy Expo in Jeju in 2025 and supported the hosting of the 'Jeju Social Economy Hanmadang' event involving more than 50 social enterprises in Jeju Island at the home game against Seoul in September.
This year, a special event was held for sustainable growth and social value spread of social enterprises in Jeju Island under the title `Value Up with Social Enterprises' at a home game against Daejeon on October 6. In particular, it drew attention by establishing a collaboration project between social enterprises and private cooperation partners in the province and forming a consensus among residents of social enterprises.
Above all, under the stable operation of the Jeju club on the day of the home game, the event organizer and the community were held as one brand day, drawing attention. The 6,766 spectators who visited the stadium experienced the products and services of social enterprises firsthand at the promotional, experience and sales booths operated by 25 social enterprises and organizations. Governor Oh Young-hoon, Chairman of the Provincial Council Lee Sang-bong, Director of the Integrated Employment Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Song Nam-cheol, Director of the Social Enterprise Promotion Agency, Song Young-wook, CEO of Happiness Narae, and Ko Jin-seok, Chairman of the Jeju Social Enterprise Council, attended the event, naturally enjoying a successful model of cooperation between social enterprises and private enterprises by creating not only simple publicity but also an opportunity to get closer to the local community.
The 'Value of Together' was further highlighted by the active participation of the Jeju team's team. Ahead of this event, the Jeju team donated their cherished items to beautiful stores, and decided to use the proceeds collected through auctions/sales to support the sharing of hope in beautiful stores. As a result, a total of 46 donated items were sold on that day, and the sales amounted to a whopping 4,547,500 won.
The Jeju team's practice and efforts do not stop there. Through this award, we will create more love and opportunities. Koo Chang-yong, CEO of Jeju United, who won the award, said, `We will spare no effort and practice to make the world happy and warm society. We will continue to be beautifully accompanied by social enterprises and strive for win-win development and realization of social values in the local community."
