Japanese baseball superstar Shohei Ohtani (LA Dodgers) revealed the secret to stealing.

Japanese media 'Full Count' gave an unexpected answer to Otani's secret to stealing on the 12th. He said it is important to have confidence that he can work well when the check comes.

Ohtani hit .310 on-base percentage of .390 with 54 homers and 59 steals this season.

For the first time in Major League history, he surpassed 50 home runs and 50 steals at the same time.

54 home runs is actually not that surprising.

Ohtani hit 46 home runs in 2021. He also hit 34 home runs in 2022 and 44 home runs in 2023.

It has already been proven that it can hit 50 home runs at any time.

But the steal is amazing.

Ohtani, who made his major league debut in 2018, has never exceeded 30 stolen bases.

The number of individuals was only 26 in 2021. There were only two seasons in which he stole more than 20 bases. Ohtani has never exceeded 10 stolen bases even in his Japanese professional baseball days.

However, he achieved 59 this season, nearly three times the number of the previous year (20).

On the reason why the stolen base has increased significantly, Ohtani said, "The first is like an ear lute. Lead and oystole are important."

Usually, it is known that the start is the most important in stolen bases. If the pitcher starts as soon as he enters the quick motion, it is believed that the catcher's throw to second base cannot catch the runner no matter how fast.

However, it is dangerous for a runner to start like that. Immediately after the pitcher takes off, it is difficult to tell whether it is a pitch or a check. If you run with confidence that it is not a check, you will be late again, so an appropriate judgment is required.

The full count described 'Otani's evolution as being in the ear. He explained, 'It's not a start, but I asked again if it was because of the otoroo.'

In response, Ohtani responded, "If I can hold on and react in the right position, I can get off to a good start to some extent. Rather than that, you should have confidence that you can take a solid lead and come back well when the check comes. I felt that it was important in the process of starting or going to second base."

Ohtani is set for the 2024 seasonHe signed a 10-year, $700 million mega-contract with Juss. This season, he was the designated hitter. From 2025, I expect a combined pitching job.
