Shin Ji-ae scored 16 points with this victory, jumping from 29th to 25th in the women's golf week world ranking announced on the 3rd.
Countries in the northern hemisphere, including the U.S., South Korea and Japan, have not changed their rankings except for Shin Ji-ae, as the season has ended in winter. Yoo Hae-ran (7th), Ko Jin-young (10th), Yang Hee-young (12th), Kim Hyo-joo (23rd), and Yoon In-na (30th) remained in place.
In the fourth round of the Australian Open held at Kingston Heath Golf Club (par 73) in Cheltenham, Australia on the 1st, Shin Ji-ae recorded 3-under 70 strokes, including two eagles, and won the final round with a 17-under 274 strokes, beating second-place Ashley Bouhai of South Africa by two strokes.
It is the first time in a year and a half since the Japan Ladies Professional Golf Association (JLPGA) Tour Earth Mondamin Cup in June 2023. I held the trophy in my arms again. The prize money was 289,000 Australian dollars (about 260 million won).
