Anti-corruption crime investigation unit suspected of misconduct by Chairman Lee Ki-heung, seizure and search of the main sports complex of the Korea Sports Association (Breaking News)



The investigation by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's anti-corruption crime investigation team into allegations of misconduct by executives and employees of the Korea Sports Council, including Lee Ki-heung, chairman of the Korea Sports Association, has begun in earnest.

On the 10th of last month, the Cabinet Office 'Government Joint Public Service Inspection Team' (hereinafter referred to as the Inspection Team) requested the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency to investigate eight people involved, including Chairman Lee Ki-heung, for alleged misconduct such as ▶ illegal recruitment of employees (obstruction of business), ▶ demand for sponsorship (receiving money and goods, etc.), ▶ private use of sponsored goods ( embezzlement), ▶ waste of sports association's budget (betrayal). The case was allocated to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Anti-Corruption Crime Unit on the 13th of last month, and about a month later, police began a search and seizure on the main building of the Olympic Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul and the Jincheon National Training Center on the morning of the 18th. Lee's office, the president's office, the IOC support department, the HR department, the regional sports department, the international exchange department, the marketing department, the Jincheon National Training Center, and the vice-president's office are reportedly being raided.
