The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched a joint preparatory group of related organizations such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Unification, and the Korea Sports Council on the 19th, 50 days before the opening of the Harbin Winter Asian Games in February next year, and held a meeting presided over by the second vice minister Jang Mi-ran.

The Harbin Winter Asian Games, which will be held from February 7 to 14 next year, will be the first winter Asian Games in eight years since the 2017 Sapporo Games, with 1,500 athletes from 34 countries participating. South Korea will send 226 athletes (150 athletes, 52 game executives, and 24 headquarters executives) to six sports, including biathlon, curling, ice hockey, ice skating, skiing, and mountain skiing, 11 sub-sports events, and 64 sub-sports events.

The short track competition featuring Choi Min-jeong, Kim Ki-li and Park Ji-won will be held from February 8 to 9, the figure skating with Cha Jun-hwan, Kim Chae-yeon will be held from February 9 to 10, and the speed skating with Kim Min-sun and Jung Jae-won will be held from February 8 to 11. At the 2017 Sapporo Games, South Korea ranked second overall after Japan with 16 gold, 18 silver, and 16 bronze.




At the first joint preparatory meeting, presided over by Vice Minister Jang, the players comprehensively checked their preparations and support for safe participation in the tournament, and discussed ways to cooperate with related organizations. In addition, it sought to revitalize Chinese tourism to Korea through safe tournament viewing and Asian Games.
