Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun was elected as the 14th president of the Korea Archery Association. He has confirmed his sixth term in office. The next term will be four years from January next year.

The Korea Archery Association announced on the 20th that Chairman Chung, who ran alone in the 14th presidential election, will be the final winner after reviewing the reasons for disqualification of candidates by the Election Commission. According to the regulations of the Korea Sports Association, executives of member sports organizations can be reappointed once. However, if the contribution to the development of the stock is clear, an additional term can be served. The election management committee of the Korea Archery Association reportedly praised Chairman Chung for enhancing the association's administration and contributing to financial independence, and enhancing the competitiveness of Korean archery through full support for national representation and talent development. As a result, it is evaluated that South Korea's archery has laid the foundation for the world's strongest position until the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Chairman Chung was appointed as the 9th president of the Korea Archery Association in May 2005. Since then, he has worked hard to develop Korean archery. He is said to have played a major role in raising Korean archery to the highest level in the world by incorporating Hyundai Motor Group's management know-how into archery. Based on the three principles of fairness, transparency, and excellence, an objective national team selection system was established to lead Korean archery to the world's strongest position. Hyundai Motor Group said "There are no unreasonable practices or unfair selection of players due to factions such as Jiyeon and Hakyeon in the archery association. The national team is selected only based on the current grades after thorough competition, excluding existing grades and reputation, and the coaches are also hired through open recruitment."

Chairman Chung also put Hyundai Motor Group's R&D capabilities into archery to support athletes' performance improvement. AI shooting robots for training, arrow screening shooting machines, heart rate measuring devices, player-customized grips, radiant cooling hats, and multiple cameras for outdoor training are available for actual training and games. This helped the players improve their performance enough to talk in person through interviews. Korean archery has maintained the world's best performance for a long time through Chung's leadership. South Korea's archery set a milestone of winning all events at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

He is also said to have established a systematic fostering system leading to 'Younger → Dream Tree → Candidate Player → Standing Army → National Representative' and created various competitions such as the 2016 Chung Mong-koo Bae Korean Archery Competition to expand the base of events. In addition, he has also been chairman of the Asian Archery Federation since 2005 and has been striving for the development of Asian archery and sports diplomacy, such as supporting the development of overseas athletes and dispatching tour leaders.

Meanwhile, Chairman Chung's six consecutive terms are also the continuation of Hyundai Motor Group and South Korean archery for more than 40 years since 1985, when honorary chairman Chung Mong-koo took office as chairman of the association. Chairman Chung further advanced the South Korean archery system, which was laid by honorary chairman Chung Mong-koo. The association's administrative system has been advanced. It is evaluated that it has quickly responded to the global archery trend by establishing fair and transparent training and competition culture and developed into an association recognized by the world beyond Korea.
