Ko Hee-jin, head coach of Jeong Kwan-jang in women's professional volleyball, remained silent amid controversy over the `damage to ridicule.'
Head coach Ko Hee-jin met with reporters ahead of the 2024-2025 Dodram V-League Women's GS Caltex match at Chungmu Gymnasium in Daejeon on the 21st and was asked about the 'Jorong incident' but maintained a cautious attitude.
Coach Ko Hee-jin suffered an embarrassment at the Heungkuk Life Insurance match in Incheon on the 17th. During the game, Heungkuk Life Insurance coach Daniele Turino suddenly approached coach Ko Hee-jin. With his back behind him, he pulled his hips back and only his face forward, staring at head coach Ko Hee-jin.
Criticism arose strongly that coach Daniele mocked coach Ko Hee-jin.
Heungkuk Life Insurance said "Coach Daniele said it was not intended to be ridiculed, but apart from the content, it is a wrong behavior. I am sorry to the club of Jeong Kwan-jang and head coach Ko Hee-jin. I offer my apologies."
The Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO) will hold a reward and punishment committee for coach Daniele on the 26th.
Coach Ko Hee-jin said, `I think it's the right way for me to say nothing until the federation's reward and punishment committee. It's up to me or V-League officials to wait for the federation's decision."
Coach Ko said, `I think it's a bad way to add another word to this. I think the reward and punishment committee will make a good decision.'
Jeong Kwan-jang is aiming for his sixth consecutive win against GS Caltex. On the other hand, GS Caltex is in a quagmire for 11 consecutive losses.
Coach Ko Hee-jin said, `I always ask the players to do it with the same mind. We do our best to prepare for every game. There is nothing to look at the other team's situation. It's just our game. Whether it is a strong team, a weak team, or a losing team, the points are the same. We're going to play our own game."
