'Elling Holan of the K League' Left-footed striker Heo Yul (23, Gwangju) leaves the arms of Gwangju coach Lee Jung-hyo for Ulsan HD.

An official from the transfer market said on the 17th that Ulsan recruited Gwangju striker Heo Yul to strengthen its offense. Heo Yul recently withdrew his application to join Gimcheon Sangmu and is preparing to move to Ulsan" he said.

The terms of the contract were completely transferred, and Ulsan offered a buyout to Gwangju. Buyout is a clause that can be recruited without negotiation between clubs if a certain amount of money is paid in the contract. Heo Yul had submitted an application to join Gimcheon Sangmu next year, but he changed his mind after receiving Ulsan's proposal and abruptly withdrew his enlistment ahead of the announcement of successful candidates for Sangmu. Coach Kim Pan-gon, who took the helm of Ulsan this year, is said to have highly evaluated Heo Yul.

It is a transfer that matches the needs of Ulsan, which is strengthening its power across all positions ahead of participation in the Club World Cup next summer, and Heo Yul, who joined Gwangju in 2020 and hoped to change his career after playing for four years.

For Ulsan, which plays more than 50 games in four tournaments, including the K League 1, the Korean Cup, the Asian Champions League, and the Club World Cup in the 2025 season, the reinforcement of its power this winter was a "must" rather than a "choice". Ulsan, which has existing 'national goaltender' and Brazilian Yago, has additionally reinforced young and versatile strikers to build a 'makgang attack team'.

Ulsan, which has won three consecutive K League 1 titles from 2022 to 2024 and established a new dynasty, is drawing the foundation for its fourth consecutive win. In addition to Heo Yul, it is reported that another Gwangju midfielder is also about to be recruited. In addition, the recruitment of Heo Yul, who was born in 2001, could signal a generational change.

Heo Yul, who is 1m93 and 87kg tall, has strengths in postplay, aerial ball, and left foot kick. It has the strength of being fast, so it is also useful for counterattacks. Heo Yul made headlines by scoring his ACL debut goal tenaciously while losing his balance in the Asian Champions League (ACL) elite match against Shanghai Port on the 3rd, Gwangju's final match in 2024. The K-League 1 record is two goals in 32 matches in 2024. However, he played center back in most matches in the second half depending on coach Lee's request and team circumstances.

If he/she is confirmed to join Ulsan, he/she will share the same food with winger Um Won-sang, his/her colleague and Kumho High School senior when he/she was in Gwangju.
